“You can already smell the delicious aroma of fresh popcorn in the lift.”
We end our trip through Japan in Tokyo. After a long search and many chats with ChatGPT and Claude, we decide to book the Tokyo Stay Aoyama Premier, which we are very happy with afterwards.
The hotel’s location is very nice. The Ginza line is a few minutes away and you can walk to Shibuya and Shinjuku. As the icing on the cake, the hotel also has a lounge that guests can use, more on that later.
Tokyu Stay Aoyama
Besides the lounge, the Tokyu Stay Aoyama has a lobby where you can grab free tea and coffee, work and have breakfast in the morning.
In the lobby, you will also find a smoking area and a small shop where you can buy items. The hotel offers amenities that you can grab yourself when you need them, including a pouch with a usb charger. Convenient.
Advantages and disadvantages Tokyu Stay Aoyama

- Hotel does not offer breakfast

Price Tokyu Stay Aoyama
We pay €900 for four nights at the Tokyu Stay Aoyama, which works out at €225 per night. That’s for the Premier Double Room, measuring 21m2.
Location Tokyu Stay Aoyama
One of the reasons for choosing Tokyu Stay Aoyama is its location. To say that Tokyo is big is an understatement. Half an hour to three quarters of an hour on the metro is no exception, but if you only have a short time, you don’t want to do that too often.
The Tokyu Stay Aoyama is located between Shinjuku and Shibuya, allowing you to explore two popular neighbourhoods on foot or by a short underground ride.

From Tokyu Stay Aoyama, you can reach Tokyo Station in about 30 minutes and the airport an hour later.

Room Tokyu Stay Aoyama
The room at the Tokyu Stay Aoyama is small, but we are used to that by now in Japan. 21m2 is just not big enough for two people and two large suitcases to move around freely.
The room has its own washer and dryer, a seating area we use for our suitcases and a television.
The room

Bathroom
The bathroom is very outdated and has a bath with shower and shower curtain, a toilet and a small washbasin.

Like many hotels in Japan, you can grab your own amenities in the lobby and lounge, such as a toothbrush with toothpaste, skincare, tea, etc.
A plus is that there are also chargers lying around with a usb-c cable for your phone or laptop.

Breakfast Tokyu Stay Aoyama
It offers breakfast, but it is completely prefabricated. During check-in, I was told that you have to buy a coupon, after which you can grab something from the fridge. You then have to eat that in your room, although I was also told that it’s better to have breakfast outside.
Facilities Tokyu Stay Aoyama Tokyo
Lounge
The hotel has a very nice lounge. When we booked the hotel, we were unaware that there was a lounge at the hotel, so we were pleasantly surprised when we walked into the extensive lounge.
Free coffee, wine, a small breakfast, showers, toilets, etc. Everything is there, a pleasant surprise.

Washing machine
There was a washing machine with dryer in our room.

Free coffee & snacks
Apart from the lounge, you can also grab free water, coffee and tea in the hotel lobby. And that’s not all, as fresh popcorn is also made almost all day. You feel like you’re in a cinema just before the film starts, that’s how good it smells.

Gym
The word gym might be a bit too much of a stretch, but the hotel’s lounge has three machines where you can do a small workout.

Smoking area
Like all hotels in Japan, the Tokyu Stay Aoyama has a smoking area. It is present on the lobby floor.
Remote working Tokyo
Remote working at the Tokyu Stay Aoyama can be done very well. Both the lobby and the lounge have more than enough space for fine work.
Another big plus is the tremendously fast connection of 480 Mbps(!).

Conclusion Tokyu Stay Aoyama
Pleasantly surprised and definitely recommended. The Tokyu Stay Aoyama is a fine hotel with pleasant service and very good facilities.
As I mentioned above as a tip: book a room with twin beds. That gives you a bit more space for a reasonably cheap price.
