Jeanine: Why I started this blog?
When I book a trip, I can’t wait for it to begin. When it’s finally here, I can’t wait to sample the local cuisine. Seek out coffere shops, discover markets and try the best restaurants. Food and travel are the ultimate combination for me.
Through Nomad Menu, I write about my travels, my experiences with location independent work and with vegetarian food and I thought it was time to share them. Hopefully I can make a small contribution to your menu.
From camping in Friesland to 40 metres deep in the Indian Ocean
Travelling does not necessarily mean going far away, in my view. The Netherlands, for example, has too much to offer to ignore and not write about it. I not only share my experiences of travelling abroad, but also take you along to some great places in the Netherlands.

I can’t do this without you
I enjoy immensely recording my experiences, but I want to make a contribution with my blog. For that, I need you. Let me know what you think of my articles. Are you missing information, or do you feel something is unnecessary? Maybe you have some tips?
I also use referral links. You pay nothing for these links, but they help support the blog.
Rick: It started as a challenge?

It may sound crazy, but I have not always been that travel-minded. It started with an “XP-run” to Ibiza, together with my companion. That way, we wanted to save XPs as quickly as possible within the Flyingblue and SkyTeam program. The ultimate goal? Platinum for life.
Right now – 2025 – I need one more year to reach Platinum for life.
Travelling for XPs has taken me to places I wouldn’t normally choose. So I flew to Santiago, Chile, via Hamburg, Amsterdam and Paris to Madrid and took 21 flights with Erik to Lombok, where we have Villa Gem and NMBR Four.
How I try to make the most of every trip

For me, the challenge has become to get the most out of a trip in terms of comfort. It doesn’t mean everything has to be expensive, but I like to use the options available to me. For example, I often fly business or first class for free using my American Express card (both from the Netherlands and the USA), take advantage of hotel benefits from Hilton, Marriott and Radisson or ask our friends at Punten Consultant to book a hotel for us, with the necessary benefits.
I enjoy using tools like AwardWallet or seats.aero that make managing memberships and flights easier. That’s where the challenge and fun lie for me.
Nomadmenu hijacked
You could say that I gradually took over part of Jeanine’s website. With so many trips, hotels, flights, lounges and benefits, I noticed that people were curious about how we manage it. Where Jeanine likes to talk about destinations, food and drink – I like to talk about stays or trips through reviews. I also write pages with tips and tricks and share information about American Express and the necessary welcome bonuses you can take advantage of 🙂
