Favourite lounge at Schiphol Airport
We have regularly accessed the Privium Lounges at Schiphol. In fact, there are three of them. There is a Privium lounge before security and two after security.
There is little difference in the offerings between the two lounges, but my preference is for the Privium lounge after security. In this review, we cover the lounge before security, near the check-in counters.
Privium login
If you have signed up for Privium, the lounge at the check-in counters is the first lounge you will visit. This is because this is the lounge where you complete your sign-up.
In the lounge, you will be escorted to the back of the lounge where they will scan your iris and you will receive your pass. This combination of your pass and your iris ensures fast border passage at Schiphol Airport.
Signing up is quite quick and both before and after scanning, you can just use the lounge. So come nice and early the first time and enjoy the food and drinks served.
Food and drink
The lounge features a wide range of food and drinks. Both at breakfast, lunch and dinner. This ranges from various sandwiches, yoghurt and (fruit) salads, to spreads such as hummus and fresh pasta dishes.
You won’t be short of drinks either. You will find various fruit juices, water, coffee and tea, but (alcoholic) drinks are also well represented. Beer, wine, spirits and 0.0 for the enthusiast.
On some days, you will find a fresh coffee bar in the lounge, where a barista will freshly prepare your cappuccino, latte or espresso.
Plenty of seating and work opportunities
The lounge is divided into a number of seating areas that are on a small elevation – it looks like a kind of stage. The difference in height and separation between the various seating areas offers a lot of peace and privacy, which is very pleasant.
At the back of the lounge you will find a silent booth via video call that you can use for meetings via video call or by phone. You will also find a widening of the lounge at the back, giving you seating space on both sides of the lounge.
The space in the back is more focused on workstations, allowing you to sit at your laptop in good posture.
Toilets, no showers
The lounge has a number of toilets at the front and back of the lounge. A total of six. These are plenty. Showers are not available in the lounge.

Conclusion
The Privium Lounge (before security) is pleasant. The food and drink on offer is fine, there is plenty of room to sit and the lounge is often not too crowded.
If you have Privium, you can also use the lounge after security in the intercontinental area of Schiphol thanks to the fast border passage.
