The Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is ideally located for travellers coming to or from Schiphol Airport. A train runs every five minutes between the Novotel and Schiphol Airport. From the hotel’s entrance, you will be in the arrivals hall of Schiphol Airport within 10 minutes.
Location as strongest feature
The Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport’s strongest feature is its location. For travellers, it is ideal that the train runs 24 hours a day, most of the time every five minutes.
From both Schiphol Airport and the city centre, you can reach Hoofddorp station in no time, which is also easy to reach by bus. From there, you can walk to the hotel in 5 minutes.

- It smelled musty (especially the bathroom smelt a bit sewer-like)
It’s a shame they don’t really differentiate themselves from, say, an Ibis (also Accor member). The look of this Novotel hotel is hip and somewhat resembles an Ibis Styles hotel. Novotel in my experience is normally a more luxurious segment. This combined with the poor bed ensures that the hotel is not at the top of my list if I have another early flight. I prefer to book the Ibis Styles Amsterdam Airport then.
The Novotel Schiphol Airport room
The room at the Novotel is not Novotel worthy. As I wrote above, my feeling with Novotel is usually slightly more luxurious than the Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The room is small, the bed is (too) small and the pillows are poor, with no pillow programme.
The bathroom, on the other hand, is fine. The shower is very nice and comes with fine Rituals shampoo and shower gel.
Restaurant Novotel Schiphol Airport
We visited the Novotel Schiphol Airport before our flight to Jeddah, India and Sri Lanka. Since we have an early flight (we are at the station as early as 5am), we opted not to have breakfast, but luckily we have some time at Schiphol to score a nice breakfast in the Privium Lounge.
So I can’t say anything about the Novotel’s breakfast, other than that the restaurant feels inviting, fresh and open. The use of different seating areas, trees and plants feels very good.
Which hotel if you have an early flight
It is no secret that I am not a fan of the Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, but which hotel should you choose if you have an early flight or just arrive late and cannot catch a train home.
Personally, I would opt for the Ibis Styles Schiphol Airport. It is also located a few minutes from Schiphol Airport and provides a shuttle bus.
