The Courtyard by Marriott in Agra is a beautiful luxury hotel with an impressive entrance. One of the advantages of traveling in India is that even higher-end hotels and restaurants remain very affordable. As a result, we stayed in a very comfortable room for just €25 per person.
Most visitors come to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. Like us, most people spend a night here and you will likely notice many of the same guests checking in and out. If you are going to visit the Taj Mahal, this hotel is highly recommended!

Room Courtyard by Marriott Agra
The room was fine. Clean, spacious and fully equipped. You can make yourself a cup of coffee or tea and watch TV from bed. To stream your favorite series, you can easily connect an HDMI cable. The bathroom is super too, with a rain shower that is hard to get out of.
Advantages
- Impressive and welcoming entrance, complete with welcome drink.
- Trendy coffee bar in the lobby (and tasty biscuits with the coffee).
- Very relaxed sofas in the lobby.
- Upgrade to a spacious room with a king-size bed.
- One of the best rain showers I have experienced (especially considering the price).
- The value for money is excellent.
- Delicious chocolates in the room (you always score points with me for that).
- Delicious breakfast.
- Beautiful, luxurious look.
- Good gym with lots of equipment.
- Large pool.
Cons
- They have no choice of different types of pillows and personally, I did not sleep well on the pillows.
- Late checkout was not possible due to a wedding and high occupancy in the hotel. Since we drove back to Jaipur after breakfast, this was actually not a problem for us.
- No plain yoghurt at breakfast (only fruit yoghurt) and they don’t make fresh lassi for you (which we are used to after a few days in India, super-awesome of course).

Marriott Bonvoy member
Thanks to our gold status through Marriott Bonvoy, we are kindly upgraded to a very nice, large room. As icing on the cake, we were welcomed to the room with chocolate bonbons. When we enquired about breakfast options, we were also given this for free (after a friendly request at reception).

Cost Courtyard Agra
The cost for a night at this delightful hotel was a just €50 for two people. Thanks to our status, we got an upgrade to a better room and a discount on the coffee we drank in the lobby. Finally, we were able to enjoy a excellent breakfast for free after our visit to the Taj Mahal.

Location of the Courtyard by Marriott in Agra
The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the Taj Mahal, which we came for. On the first night we jumped in the tuktuk to score a curry, there are many restaurants nearby.
Visit Taj Mahal
The Courtyard is perfect if you want to visit the Taj Mahal. We arrived here late in the day from Jaipur and they have a lovely pool where you can take another dip. They also have a beautiful garden with an outdoor kitchen, where you can grab a bite to eat. If you fancy a local curry, there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
You’ll crawl into bed nice and early, as you’ll be picked up at 6am the next day so you can admire the Taj Mahal in all its glory at sunrise. You’ll spend about 2.5 hours visiting this extraordinary mausoleum. Perfect, because this means you’ll be back by 8:30 to join a very nice breakfast at the Courtyard.

Courtyard Agra breakfast
After an impressive and intense morning at the Taj Mahal, I was really in the mood for breakfast. That came in handy, because the breakfast was very good. It reminded me a bit of the breakfast at the Fairfield, but just a bit more elaborate (the hotel is also much bigger).
The local breakfast options are highly recommended: the fresh dosas are prepared individually. You can also get waffles and pancakes made here, or a nice omelette with vegetables. There is also fruit, yoghurt, muesli, good coffee, lots of sweet rolls and, of course, curry with naan.

Remote working in Agra
Remote working is possible here. Our room had proper desk suitable for working. In addition, the hotel lobby has lovely sofas. For a more vibrant setting, you can flip open your laptop in the coffee shop. The internet here was also surprisingly fast.
