Conrad Bali Swimming Pool Infinity BEach

Conrad Bali

Conrad is Hilton’s most premium brand, but cannot live up to that status in Bali this time.

During my short stay in Bali, I spend one night at the Conrad. Although we are upgraded to a Deluxe King room overlooking the pool, I cannot help but be critical of the hotel.

Hilton Bali Resort

The hotel itself is set up as a resort and consists of several buildings and suites.. There are several swimming pools, restaurants and lounges. Sports facilities such as tennis and a gym are also available, as well as a spa.

If you are coming to the Conrad in Bali for the first time, you will have to find your way around for a while, but after a day, it is quite manageable.

Conrad Bali room

The room at the Conrad is fine. Spacious, clean and the view of both the pool and the ocean is nice. As you might expect, the room has little that particularly stands out. There is a large bed with a good mattress and a pillow programme. Next to the bed is a cube where you can choose a scent to spray your pillow with at night.

The bathroom has a bathtub and a separate shower with shampoo and lotion from Mojave. A small desk, TV and minibar complete the room. During check-in, in addition to being upgraded to this room, we also get complimentary access to the Conrad’s Executive Lounges, ideal for afternoon snacks and drinks.

Advantages of Hilton membership

Although I currently no longer have Diamond status with Hilton (my current status is Gold) – we were upgraded to two room levels higher (Deluxe King with Pool view) and lounge access at check-in, which is special.

Cost Conrad Bali

We pay €200 for one night at the Conrad (Nov 2024). For that, we get the Deluxe King with balcony, overlooking the ocean and pool.

I expect prices are normally lower and that has to do with the two parties that were organised. The hotel was overflowing and there were almost no rooms available. Personally, I don’t think the Conrad Bali is worth 200 euros a night either and would look for another hotel nearby.

Advantages

  • Conrad has a good reputation and you know the rooms are fine
  • Beautiful resort with many facilities. Pools, sports and spa
  • Executive Lounge
  • The pillow programme is often a guarantee of a good night’s sleep.

Cons

  • Very large and cluttered (in the beginning)
  • The hotel is too busy, making breakfast not Conrad-worthy

Conrad Bali Executive Lounge

The Conrad Bali is different from other Hilton hotels when it comes to lounges. While there is a lounge near the suites, you can also use your lounge privileges in other areas of the resort. This allows you to order a wine on the poolside terrace, overlooking the sea.

During our stay, there are two big company parties, a barbecue and a Chinese party. On the one hand, this allows us to enjoy live music, but from the Chinese corner, karaoke music roars through the speakers. Fun for a while, but annoying after a while (I don’t expect there to be such corporate parties every week, but I want it at least named).

The lounge itself works with two time slots. One from 15:00 to 17:00, during which you get a (non-alcoholic) drink. These drinks are accompanied by a tray served in a high tea style. Then you can enjoy a drink between 17:00 and 19:00.

It’s a pity that this is such a small time frame AND that you can’t reorder separately or be presented with some choices from a buffet. You receive one bite per round.

Conrad Bali Breakfast

The big drawback of corporate parties and crowds emerges during breakfast. It feels like a food court in a busy Asian city where people eat loudly.

There is no space inside and children are running around screaming.

Now that’s not the worst thing, as there are still options outside to quietly enjoy your breakfast in the shade, but it feels as if the Conrad is not prepared for these crowds OR cannot handle the crowds.

There are many empty trays and baskets, meaning you may miss items such as cottage cheese or croissants. Coffee takes a long time, is lukewarm and is served sloppily. Some products – like coconut yoghurt – are not refilled at all.

Of course, the Conrad won’t have a company party every week (let alone two) and I think the food is good during a quiet period. But I didn’t get to enjoy it. For a Conrad hotel, I do not think this is acceptable.

Remote Working Bali

Working at the Hilton is fine. You can work well in the lounge as well as in the many other restaurants and in your room.

The internet speed is nothing special, showing a speed of about 8.4 Mbps. Workable, but not fast.

Conrad Bali location

The hotel is 25 minutes from Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) and 45 minutes from Canggu. This is not ideal if you want to visit the busy area of Cangguf, but there are plenty of restaurants, warungs and shops nearby.

Otherwise, the Resort is big enough to entertain you for a few days without leaving the resort and well located if you want to stay purely overnight between flights. In that case, a Hilton Garden Inn might be a better alternative.

Conrad Bali restaurant

During our stay, we choose to eat at the resort’s (fish) restaurant. Although the specialty is fish, I opt for a piece of steak and it tastes fine. Because of our Hilton membership, we enjoy a 25% discount, which makes it quite affordable.

Gym Conrad Bali

The Conrad’s Gym looks good and features free weights and various equipment from Technogym. A Changing rooms and showers are available (three in total).

In addition, you can play a game of tennis or padel.

Conclusion Conrad Bali

Unfortunately, I cannot be positive about my stay at the Conrad Bali. While I normally enjoy Conrad hotels, there were too many small issues during this stay.

For instance, no breakfast is served in the lounge, even on busy days. Breakfast itself was substandard, not every staff member speaks English well and the hotel looks dated with discoloured, crumbling tiles.

We were also not told that we could have our pillows sprayed with fragrance, a missed opportunity! Such fine extras should be better explained.

The lounge is also not at the level of Conrad Istanbul, Conrad Singapore or Conrad Bangalore and could – should – be better in my view.
