After a successful pop-up lounge at Stockholm Airport, American Express opened a permanent lounge at Stockholm.
American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof Stockholm
After our previous trip through Stockholm and Östersund, we visited the Amex pop-up lounge at Stockholm airport. We really liked the pop-up lounge. A different experience from traditional lounges and à la carte food of fine quality.

I was therefore surprised this time when I saw that the Amex pop-up lounge has disappeared, but fortunately the pop-up lounge has been exchanged for a permanent lounge and in this review I will tell you more about the American Express lounge set up in Stockholm in collaboration with Pontus Frithiof.
Amex by Pontus lounge at Stockholm Airport
The lounge consists of two parts. An Amex Platinum lounge and an Amex Centurion lounge. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Centurion lounge, but as a Centurion cardholder, it is good to know that a separate section is available for it, as the Platinum lounge is very crowded during my visit.

Once in the Platinum section of the lounge, you will see different seating areas. You can sit at the bar, at a sofa with tables and in a restaurant setup. If you want to get some work done while eating, you can also take a seat in a partial private booth or at a high table with bar stool to open your laptop.

Access American Express by Pontus Lounge Stockholm
You get access to the American Express lounge in Stockholm in two ways. One is with the Platinum or the Centurion Credit Card. You can find out more about American Express here.
- Credit card
To access the Centurion Lounge, you need a Platinum or Centurion Credit Card. You can get the Centurion card by invitation only.

Location American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof
You’ll find the Amex lounge between Gates E and F between all the restaurants. The lounge can be recognized by a large silver artwork in front of a large wooden staircase that leads you upstairs.
At Stockholm, you can walk back and forth between all terminals and gates quite easily, so if you have a flight departing from Stockholm, you can always risk a visit to the lounge.

Food & drink Amex at Pontus Stockholm
The food and drink in the lounge are – in my opinion – fine. Of course, it is not a five-star restaurant, but compared to the food in other lounges, it is fine.
You get a menu upon entering and can choose from a number of drinks and dishes there. Most are free, but there are also paid dishes on the menu. So pay attention to that. The menu changes depending on the time between a breakfast-lunch or dinner menu. You do notice that the dishes are the same as a year ago, so there is little variation in that.

The service is generous with wine refills and the complimentary wines are also fine.
If you don’t have time to order/use an elaborate meal, you can choose to bring some small snacks from the lounge or ask for an On The Go bag. Since I had more than enough time, I didn’t do that this time, but you can see what’s in there in my previous review.

Work & internet Stockholm Airport
Working in the lounge is fine. Wifi is available in the lounge and ticks 85MB per second. Around me, several people are working. You can sit at the small tables, the partially closed booths and the high tables with your laptop.
I personally favour internet via a hotspot, but if you want to use the public wifi network at the lounge or airport, you can do that too. In that case, make sure you secure your connection via a VPN to keep your data safe.

Toilets American Express by Pontus
The lounge does not have showers, but toilets are available. While the lounge is relatively new, the toilets resemble those from a busy pub and this is partly due to colour use.
The toilets are black and you can see everything on them. It also looks like they don’t clean often, as the floor is very wet here and there (from splashes), the toilets look dirty and toilet paper lies on the floor. This could –and should – be better.

Conclusion American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof
I am glad that Amex’s pop-up lounge has turned into a permanent lounge at Stockholm. The lounge does things differently from other lounges, which is very nice for a change.
I like the food – like last time – and the service is also friendly and pours the wines generously. Despite the huge crowds, there is always a place to be found and I like the division of open tables with semi-closed booths.
