Airbnb Póvoa de Varzim

During our search in and around Porto, we also stay in Póvoa de Varzim, close to Vila do Conde

While searching for a flat in and around Vila do Conde, this hip abode owned by Gabi immediately catches our eye. The unique design, complete facilities and the space of the flat won us over. We spend our second week in Portugal in Póvoa de Varzim, just outside Vila do Conde.

Airbnb Apartment Póvoa de Varzim

The flat is located just outside the centre of Póvoa de Varzim. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the small centre and about 30 minutes to reach the promenade and the beach.

It is worth noting that the flat is not located in Vila do Conde, but in Póvoa de Varzim. The centre of Vila do Conde is slightly larger than Póvoa de Varzim and is about 10 minutes away by car.

The flat features a large open-plan kitchen, a living room, two bedrooms with plenty of closet space, a small separate toilet and a shower with toilet and sink.

You can park freely in front of the building and the flat also has a small garage. As there is almost always space in front of the building, we don’t use it.

Unlike our previous stay, this kitchen is well-stocked. In other words; there are all kinds of spices, there is washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, etc. We get to use everything we need, which is ideal.

Gabi

Gabi makes our arrival feel right. She is an enthusiastic and cheerful hostess eager to help us with everything. She lives with her boyfriend within walking distance of the Airbnb and was happy to help us when we had problems with the hot water. That was quickly resolved.

As we deliberately visit Portugal in winter, she also brought us an extra heater, as the flat can get quite chilly during the winter months.

Upon arrival, there is a package waiting for us with a handwritten card, a bottle of red wine, and a cheese board.

Two bedrooms

The flat features two spacious bedrooms, both equipped with ample wardrobes. Both bedrooms also have a small corner for sitting. In one bedroom, this is a nice little seat tucked away in the wardrobe and in the other bedroom a corner with two chairs.

Bathroom

The bathroom is straightforward and features a nice rain shower, a sink, a toilet and a bidet.

It is nice that in addition to the toilet in the bathroom, there is also a separate toilet, where creativity is evident.

Kitchen

The kitchen is nicely extensive and seems to be actively used. Herbs and olive oil are provided and we are allowed to use them.

The kitchen also has an oven and microwave and a Nespresso coffee machine, for which there are plenty of cups.

Airbnb Póvoa de Varzim facilities

Apart from the usual bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen, the flat has some noteworthy facilities. You will find them below.

(Private) parking space

The flat has a garage and you can also park for free in the street. As mentioned, we did not use the garage because there was always enough space in front of the building.

Wine cooler

Yes indeed. There is a wine cooler. And on Instagram, it’s doing just as well as with me. The hip wine cooler has room for 12 bottles of wine. This hip thing takes up very little space and its retro style means you can just put it somewhere that catches the eye.

Desk & workstation

Internet is fast and stable. With a speed of 180 Mbps, it is fast enough for video calls and down- and uploading large files. The spacious dining table also offers enough space to enjoy working.

Washing machine

We look for accommodations with a washing machine during our trip, and this flat has one too. As in the kitchen, there is just detergent here that we are allowed to use.

Location Airbnb Póvoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde

Regarding the location, to be honest, I slightly miscalculated. Initially, I preferred to be closer to Vila do Conde or even in Vila do Conde, but so the Airbnb is in Póvoa de Varzim.

Póvoa de Varzim is a small town with a small centre. While I expect that to be cosy and bustling in the summer months, it is less so in the winter months.

Conclusion AirBNB Póvoa de Varzim

Gabi’s flat feels lovely and Gabi herself is a tremendously nice hostess. It’s a shame that so far in Portugal the beds are quite narrow, because otherwise this flat is super.

It is spacious, the kitchen is good to use and the living room is also nice with a sofa you can sit on. If the centre is lively in summer, you can quickly reach the centre and the promenade by walking from the apartment.

If you’re looking for a flat around Vila do Conde, then this Airbnb is definitely worth it, as you can be in the centre of Conde in 10 minutes by car.
