Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge

My second visit to the lounge and luckily this time I did take photos.

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge

Prior to my flight to New York, I got access to both the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge and Lufthansa’s Senator Lounge. A great opportunity to compare both lounges and in this review I will share my experience of the Air Canada Lounge.

When I visit the lounge, it is very early – 6am – and as there is a sizeable queue for the Senator Lounge, I decide to visit the Air Canada lounge first. That at least gives me the opportunity to take photos of a virtually empty lounge.

Access Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge

You get access to the Air Canada lounge in a number of ways. For example, you can enter the lounge if you have gold status with Star Alliance or fly with one of the Star Alliance partners in Business or First class.

  • Star Alliance Business or First Class ticket
If you fly with one of the Star Alliance partners in Business or Fist Class, you will get access to the Air Canada Maple Leaf lounge.
  • Star Alliance status
If you have Gold status with Star Alliance and fly with one of the partners – regardless of whether it is economy – you will be granted lounge access.

Location Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge

The lounge is on the first floor near gates B 1-19. You can take the lift (to the left of the escalator) or go up by escalator. There is no escalator down, but then you can take the lift.

Food and drink Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge

The food and drinks in the lounge are fine, but not very special. When you walk into the lounge, you will find one large bar on your right with various drinks. There are spirits, wine and beer on tap and in bottles. You can grab coffee or tea from one of the machines and you will find a soft drink dispenser if you feel like a coke.

If you walk a little further, you will find the bar with food on your right. There you can choose from sweet rolls, meatballs – which are quite tasty though – hash browns, spinach and scrambled eggs. You can also choose from a yoghurt with fruit and granola or Haribo bears and other sweets.

Throughout the lounge, there is fresh fruit in various places.

Working at Frankfurt Airport

There are several places in the lounge where you can work. There is a high bar you can sit at, and there are chairs equipped with a table and power. Wifi in the lounge is fine, but within Europe, you can, of course, work on your mobile hotspot.

If you use the lounge’s public Wi-Fi network, don’t forget to secure your connection via NordVPN, for example.

Shower & toilet Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge

Let me start with the showers. These are present and although the lounge was closed, I was not allowed inside to take a photo. So how the condition of the showers is I cannot tell, but they are present.

The toilets are fine and look neat and clean. Judging from the toilets – as is usually the case – I expect the showers to be fine too.

Conclusion Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge

The Air Canada Maple Leaf lounge is a fine lounge, but you shouldn’t expect too much from it. By the way, why Air Canada has a lounge at Frankfurt is a mystery to me.

The lounge offers enough space and is very quiet, especially compared to the Senator Lounge. If you get to visit both lounges, I would definitely do so. My personal preference – due to the slightly more extensive food and beverage offer as well as the size of the lounge – is for the Senator Lounge.
