Saudia’s Al Fursan Lounge in Jeddah is the largest SkyTeam lounge in the world

December 2023

The Alfursan Lounge at King Abdulaziz International Airport is Saudia’s showpiece when it comes to airport lounges.

As of December 2023, it is the largest SkyTeam lounge in the world. For those of you who have also stayed in the lounge at the old Jeddah airport: you will feast your eyes.

King Abdulaziz International Airport

The lounge has an enormous amount to offer. There are several seating areas, there is a self playing piano, you can relax in the cinema and enjoy a chocolate bar, scoop ice cream or fresh pizza.

  • Flying Blue lounge access
Do you fly with a SkyTeam partner (e.g. KLM, Delta, etc) and have gold or platinum status with Flying Blue? Then you may enter the lounge.
  • Business Class ticket with lounge access
Have you booked a Business Class ticket with lounge access with KLM or another SkyTeam partner? Then you may also enter this lounge.
  • Buy Al Fursan Lounge access
Don’t have status and want to enter the Al Fursan lounge? Then you can get 6 hours of lounge access for approximately €85. For approximately €125, you will get 6 hours of access to the first-class section of the lounge.

Food and drink

The food and drinks in the lounge are fine, but a bit disappointing given the size of the lounge and the fact that this is Saudia’s home base.

You will find a station where fresh pasta is prepared, there is a corner where fresh pizza or burgers are prepared and there is a chocolate bar that will make you lick your fingers. But there is little to no difference in the offerings throughout the day.

The ready-made sandwiches are also dry in this lounge and the fillings are not very exciting. If you have a long layover, you soon get bored and fed up with what’s on offer.

The same applies to the drinks. No alcohol is served, as expected, so you have to make do with sodas, water, coffee and tea. You can order the coffee from a bar and it will be freshly prepared. That coffee, by the way, is fine.

The chocolate bar provides you with delicious pastries after dinner and if you are lucky enough to be able and allowed to enter the first class lounge, you can order a nice ice cream and top it off yourself with sprinkles or bacon.

Internet

Terrible. The internet in the Al Fursan lounge is slow. Working was not possible and even answering emails is already difficult. The connection is unstable and slow.

Shower and toilet

The Al Fursan Lounge has excellent sanitary solutions. The toilets are spacious, clean and at the times I was in the lounge, everything was never fully occupied at once.

In the toilet area, you will also find 4 showers. You are given a basket with a towel and a shampoo, shower gel and lotion. The shower itself is pleasant and spacious. Ideal for a long transfer.

Nap space

Besides many sitting areas, the lounge also has an area where you can stretch out to close your eyes. There are about five cubicles where a lounge sofa is set up to take a power nap.

During one of our flights, we had an overnight transfer of approximately 8 hours, but unfortunately we were not the only ones. It took a while before we had access to a cubicle at our disposal and you do not really get to rest properly.

The rooms are open and, as a result, you hear everything going on around you and are bothered a lot by the lighting. Yes; lying down definitely calms you down somewhat, but it’s not a nice way to get some sleep.
