Kiss Blossom Mirissa

Kiss Blossom stood out for its good reviews, large rooms and excellent swimming pool.

As we were staying in Mirissa for over a week, we were looking for accommodation with spacious rooms and a pool. On Booking.com, Kiss Blossom stood out because of its good reviews, large rooms and an excellent swimming pool. Although photos can still be misleading, we were positively surprised with the hotel.

Kiss Blossom is a small hotel with 6 rooms. The complex consists of two separate buildings. One is the reception with kitchen and on the top floor (it’s only two floors) you’ll find the breakfast room, where you can also work there comfortably.

The other building is three floors high with two spacious rooms on each floor. The rooms all have their own spacious bathrooms.

Rooms Kiss Blossom

There are two types of rooms to choose from at Kiss Blossom. A standard double room and a double room with balcony. The room with balcony is slightly smaller as the space for the balcony has been cut off from the room.

We stayed in the standard double room and we like it. The room is spacious and little things have been thought about. For instance, there are small brushes under the doors to stop pests in the room, which is nice.

Otherwise, the room is modern and clean. You will not see mould, rust spots or loose doors here.

The bathroom is even better. A spacious walk-in (plunge) shower that is better than any we have experienced during our trip. The vanity is spacious and offers enough room to store stuff from two people. Amenities such as shampoo, shower gel and toothbrush kits are provided and refilled daily.

Although everyone has their own preferences, we liked the beds very much.

Advantages

  • Large and clean rooms
  • Exceptionally good shower
  • Superfast internet
  • Fine swimming pool

Cons

  • WiFi in the room is not very stable
  • Breakfast could be better
  • Location is not ideal and you do need a scooter.

Cost

We pay €110 per night (Nov 2023) for the Kiss Blossom hotel. This is for the standard double room and includes breakfast.

The price is on the high side as far as we are concerned. Particularly because of the mediocre breakfast and location, I would look at other hotels.

TukTuk Mirissa

Location Kiss Blossom Mirissa

Kiss Blossom’s location is not ideal. You’re about a 10-minute drive from the bustling centre of Mirissa. That is doable by car, but not on foot which takes about 45 minutes.

We rented a tuktuk so we have more freedom, but you can also rent a scooter

Kiss Blossom breakfast

It sounds contradictory, but breakfast is nothing to write home about (and yet I write about it ;))

The first day we get a western breakfast and it is very disappointing. The toast was too hard and had cooled down before being served with butter and jam. Later we received scrambled eggs, which tastes good on its own, but because it had already been placed on the bread, the bread is all soggy.

We ask for a local breakfast for the rest of the week. Although that breakfast is better than the western breakfast, we have seen better this trip. It all felt somewhat basic. For the price paid per night, I expected a better breakfast.

Working remotely

Working remotely in Kiss Blossom Mirissa is fine. The internet speed was 150 Mbps and there are plenty of tables to take a seat.

The only drawback of Kiss Blossom is that all seating areas are covered outdoor spaces. On hot days, it is easy to lose focus because of this. If you are wondering where you can work well in Mirissa, then check out my article on Mirissa itself.
